ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING SERVICES FOR WATER MANAGEMENT CONSTRUCTION

Hemmera and Nupqu Development Corp. (an Indigenous owned and operated company) partnered to support this project, providing environmental monitoring services for construction works on the Swift Creek and Cataract Creek drainage system. The project scope included placing an Environmental Monitor on site with Graham Construction to monitor daily water movement and develop and implement Care of Water (CoW) Plans during construction. Our team’s Environmental Monitor also monitored ESC measures, including turbidity; tracked water movement within and near the construction footprint; and reported daily monitoring results of total suspended solids to Graham Construction and Teck to ensure compliance values within the Fording River (adjacent to construction operations) and other named watercourses in the area. Hemmera’s specialized team included 1 Environmental Monitor and 1 Technical Reviewer who provided professional sign-off and guidance.

This project was extremely complex and required diligent time management to cover the very large geographic area, monitor work at multiple sites simultaneously, and meet the high demands for approved CoW for each work area. The Hemmera-Nupqu team worked closely with Graham to deliver a very successful outcome, enabling the project to progress on time and within budget.
