Dr. Shannon Bard is a leader and innovator with over 25 years of experience in environmental toxicology, human health and ecological risk assessment, environmental sustainability management, marine biology and habitat restoration, and biomedical research. She has extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary technical teams to tackle complex environmental challenges. Throughout her career, she has forged strong relationships with business and industry, government regulators, environmental managers, politicians, academia, environmental groups, First Nations, media, and the public.

Shannon has served on boards and committees with BC Buildings Corporation, the Association for Mineral Exploration BC, and the Science Advisory Board for Contaminated Sites in BC. While serving as an adjunct biology professor at Simon Fraser University, she directed collaborative research initiatives, advancing science-based management strategies and achieving environmental, social, and economic health outcomes.

Shannon is the founding Director of Coastal Scene Investigation, an organization that supports stakeholder engagement in resolving complex inter-disciplinary environmental health issues. This organization also promotes public marine science education, marine ecotoxicology research and conservation programs.

Formerly, Shannon was a professor of Environmental Science at Dalhousie University, Director of the Marine Ecotoxicology Laboratory, and co-winner of the Senate Environmental Award. She also received the first national YTV Environmental Achievement Award.
