Norma Powell is a Director of Environmental Assessment with an educational and professional background in wildlife biology and environmental assessment and over 15 years of professional experience.

She has environmental management experience on oil and gas pipelines, highway/road construction, transmission and distribution lines, large and small run-of-river hydroelectric projects, wind farms, marine vessel traffic, marine ports, recreational resorts, and residential development. Her roles have been varied: project manager and sole client contact, senior reviewer, lead wildlife biologist, author of management plans and assessment reports, lead permitting agent, environmental and emergency spill monitor, and field biologist/safety lead. As part of multi-disciplinary project teams, she has also participated in the Aboriginal, government, and public consultation process and scientific advisory committees.

Norma has a strong regulatory background and has led the projects through the federal CEAA evaluations as well as the BCEAA process. Norma’s is also tracking the changing regulations through her relationships with Ottawa and Victoria-based government staff. .
