Lara Taylor is a professional Civil Engineer with a Master’s degree in resource and environmental management (fisheries management). Her combination of skills and experience provides her with a unique perspective on environmental and resource issues. Lara has managed environmental assessments under both the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Act (BCEAA) and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012) as well as the British Columbia Development Plan process for clean energy projects. She is also experienced with project permitting and providing proponents with regulatory and environmental support during project design, construction, and operation.
Lara has undertaken regulatory reviews and project permitting as well as provided technical input on environmental issues. In addition, she has designed hydraulic structures, completed hydrology and generation reports for potential hydro projects, and installed and maintained streamflow gauges. Lara especially enjoys working on projects where hydraulics and hydrology interact with fisheries and other aquatic resources, including fishway design and instream flow assessments. She has been involved in every aspect of hydroelectric development from site selection and filing water licence applications through to post‑construction monitoring.
