James Rourke is a professional biologist with over 25 years of experience conducting, developing, and managing studies on wildlife populations and their habitats. He has extensive experience in leading and conducting species-specific and ecosystem level Species at Risk inventories to federal and provincial standards, as well as using a variety of techniques to assess wildlife habitat health. James has extensive knowledge and experience in study design and the statistical analysis of complex datasets. James leads teams of biologists to collect and analyze data to assess potential project effects to vegetation and wildlife communities associated with numerous environmental assessments. He is also experienced in effectively working within a project team, including engineering staff, to facilitate project development while minimizing potential environmental effects. Over his career James has built strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, including the Canadian Wildlife Service. James has managed a number of projects for a variety of clients, including the federal government, military, LNG, and transportation industry.
James’s role at Hemmera as Terrestrial Ecology Practice Leader involves him in staff training and mentoring, quality assurance, discipline innovation, development of guidelines and tools, and support for project delivery.
