Chuck Jochems is an Environmental Engineer designated by the BC Ministry of Environment (MOE) as a Contaminated Sites Approved Professional (CSAP). He has over 24 years of experience conducting, managing, and reviewing environmental site assessments, remediation projects, and risk assessments. From service stations and historical refineries to dry cleaners, hazardous waste disposal areas, chemical plants, and other commercial/ industrial properties, Chuck is adept at managing environmental site assessments through to closure. He has provided project management; technical and site supervision; regulatory, client, and contractor liaison; and reporting in compliance with BC’s Contaminated Sites Regulation, and provides technical guidance and support to junior staff.
In addition, Chuck has managed negotiations with municipalities, obtaining permits for developers through the Site Profile Release provisions and the Independent Remediation process. He has also successfully managed MOE applications for Protocol 9 background releases for metals in groundwater, as well as a Protocol 4 background release for elevated chloride in soil.
Chuck’s thorough understanding of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation, procedures, and protocols have enabled him to provide expert opinions to legal counsel and the BC Environmental Appeal Board. He has made more than 45 recommendations to the MOE and CSAP on various Ministry Instruments.
