Environmental Technician

Description: We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent technical and interpersonal skills to work with our talented team in delivering outstanding service to our clients. The primary focus of this position will be to assist intermediate field staff and senior project managers with 'contaminated sites' related projects.

Desired Experience / Qualifications:

  • Experience/knowledge of the Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Sites Investigations process within British Columbia (experience completing Stage 1's and/or Stage 2 PSI's is preferred)
  • Experience/knowledge in groundwater sampling techniques including bailers, waterra and low-flow sampling
  • Experience/knowledge in borehole / monitoring well installation, soil stratigraphy logging, soil sampling and monitoring well development
  • Interest/experience working with heavy equipment (back-hoes, excavators) for the purpose of test-pitting and remedial excavations
  • Working knowledge of the BC MWLAP Technical Guidance on Contaminated Sites # 1
  • Working knowledge of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR) Soil and Groundwater Standards and the CCME Guidelines

Position requirements:

  • Willingness to work with intermediate staff and within the project team on various projects of differing complexity
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively with environmental subcontractors
  • Willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions for potentially long periods at a time
  • Willingness to travel and work in potentially remote locations
  • Post-secondary education in environmental science, environmental engineering, or equivalent
  • Knowledge/experience working with computers and various programs (Word, Excel, Winlog)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities

Location/Working Conditions: The successful candidates will be based in our Vancouver office, but will be working with contaminated sites related projects across the Lower Mainland and potentially across BC and AB. The position will involve approximately 25% office work and 75% field work.
