Our Environmental Impact Assessment team includes some of the industry’s most respected experts. Members of the team regularly publish articles and make presentations on technical and legislative issues regarding environmental impact legislation, sharing expertise with industry associations, practitioner groups, and First Nations. Currently, Hemmera is leading or contributing to environmental impact assessments for several of the largest and most complex natural resource and energy projects in Canada.
We are experienced in managing environmental reviews under the BC Environmental Assessment Act (BCEAA) and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act 2012 (CEAA), and have completed many joint reviews. Our work includes impact assessment reviews for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s South Fraser Perimeter Road in Greater Vancouver; Port Metro Vancouver’s Deltaport Third Berth in Roberts Bank, Delta; and BC Hydro Projects including the John Hart Generating Station Replacement and the Strathcona Dam Safety Upgrade. We have also completed numerous renewable energy project environmental impact assessments, such as AltaGas’ Bear Mountain Wind Park in Dawson Creek, BC; McLymont Hydroelectric Project in Bob Quinn, BC; and Capital Power Corporation’s Quality Wind Project in Tumbler Ridge, BC.
In Northern Canada, we have conducted some extremely challenging environmental assessments for the resource industry, including assessments for Yukon Zinc’s Wolverine Mine, Strata Gold’s Dublin Gulch Project, Selwyn Resources’ Selwyn Project, and the Jericho Diamond Project.
Our Environmental Baseline Toolkit is a unique solution for exploration companies, which is used to develop customized biophysical and social assessment programs.
